Future Literacy (Human Skills)

1. Active Skills for an uncertain world

We are entering to a world where we need to take the initiative in building our life and professional career. What kind of skills do we need to prepare for active participation and contribution in a world that is changing?

2. Preparing for the Future of Work

Work qualifications are shifting rapidly as we move towards more volatile labour markets. The future provides tremendous opportunities for those who are fast learners and can rapidly build the capabilities that future work requires. How can we understand these changes and be prepared for them?

Future Technologies (Technical Skills)

Offering a solid understanding of the key technological enablers that can massively improve our resource efficiency.

1. Tech Literacy: Skills for a Digitised World

New technologies are changing our environment, our behaviour and how we lead our daily lives. Topics such as Artificial Intelligence, which were the preserve of experts 10 years ago, are now firmly implanted into public imagination. How can we use these technologies for good?

Future Methodologies (Foresight Skills)

Offers the methodologies and tools to imagine and create pathways to the next phase of our societies.

1. Patterns of the Future

How can we anticipate long-term development? What are our tools to understand how societies evolve from now to the future? This course is for everyone who wants to gain a more solid understanding of how one societal phase changes into other. As we transition to the next wave of technological, economic and social development, what do we see on the horizon?

Participants will be led to see the future in different ways, and understand the opportunities and risks that lie ahead. They will also be equipped with tools to assess their sector’s future-readiness. This course involves a lot of hands-on work and application.

2. Scenario Planning

What is the core of futures studies? It is thinking in scenarios. This course focus on scenarios as vehicles to evaluate different future options. Scenarios are well-argued manuscripts of possible futures. The course helps to arrive at conclusions that are more systematic, helpful and backed by diverse sources of information.

This course focuses on the practical elements of planning future action. It involves exercises and hands-on teamwork to come up with a proper toolkit that participant can apply towards their own organisational planning.

3. Connecting to the Future

The challenge we tackle in this course is that human beings are not intuitively trained for futures thinking. This course will provide a clear understanding of why training your futures thinking capability is important, and the skills you need to do it.

This course will focus on specific observation, processing, communication and implementation skills. It will guide you through these skills by providing conceptual frameworks as well as practical exercises.
